By Paul Harrison, Orbis Weather

The hottest reading in Europe this week was 82.4°F (28.0°C) at Larnaca Airport, Cyprus, on Tuesday, November 3. It was a mild autumn week rather than a hot one: every place in the top 10 stayed in the upper 70s or low 80s °F. Most of the warmth sat over southwest Spain and southern Portugal early in the week, then shifted to Cyprus.

The top 10

Larnaca stood alone at the top, one degree Celsius above a seven-way tie for second. A three-way tie for ninth puts 11 places in the table: eight in Spain, two in Cyprus and one in Portugal.

How this list is made

The list ranks observed daily maximum temperatures from airport weather reports (METARs), using Iowa Environmental Mesonet daily summaries for Friday, October 30 to Thursday, November 5, 2026. Each place appears once, at its hottest reading, with nearby stations in the same city merged. Airport reports are hourly and rounded to whole degrees Celsius, so true highs may be slightly higher, and all data are preliminary. Top readings were checked against the hourly reports. Where a daily summary ran above every hourly report, as at Jerez, Rota and Akrotiri, the hourly value was used; a sudden 89.6°F reading at Biscarrosse, southwest France, on October 31 was left out as a likely sensor fault. Europe here includes Cyprus and excludes the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Azores and Asian Turkey. For comparison, Gran Canaria reached 82.4°F (28.0°C), Madeira 75.2°F (24.0°C), Lajes in the Azores 71.6°F (22.0°C) and Incirlik near Adana, Turkey, 82.4°F (28.0°C).
